Round 2

Elmer Lin's picture

Finally got a chance to sit down and rest after what was a very long day at the Round 2 sing off. There was an unexpected protest which lasted for nearly an hour and that was the main reason for the disruption and the extended sitting around. I was really ready today, I knew that my song could really turn it all around, I just had to sing it right, and after grinding it for the last 2 days practically all day, learning the lyrics, finding the right key etc.. I thought It was up to scratch.

After 8 people beating me to getting a chance to sing, it was looking a bit down for me. The competition is so fierce, I have to say each and every competitor really could deserve a place in the Top 10, each had their distinct style, and the more that I heard others sing, the less confident I felt that I could get a place in the top 10. For me, it was great to see the talent today, because it has and will continue to help me up my own standard.

After singing my song, I wasn't at first aware of how it sounded from everyone else's point of view, it seemed to go very fast, I was trying perhaps too hard, and my lack of air and verocity became apparent. Its good that Jason Yang picked up on it, I'm going to watch out very carefully in the future for it. I sang my second song in English which felt a little better, still it felt a little bit out of my comfort zone. It seemed like the judges liked the second one more, and perhaps I should have sung that one first.

I always like to challenge myself and with the song I picked today, it was really out of my comfort zone, in an effort to try stand out, I think I crumbled a bit. I was really impressed with Tian Le Xiong, his stage presence, and obvious vocal ability was really outstanding, a well deserved direct pass, and I think there were a few really unfair decisions, but at the end of the day, only 2 passes were available, and not everybodoy can have them.

After some deliberation, some people were given a lifeline by being put in the voting pool. Myself included. Hopefully even though the judges weren't totally behind those people, they can still pull it back.

Right now, i'm not really sure how popular i'll be with the votes, but I think I have alot more to give, and the best is yet to come!

In anycase, a great experience, and if this is the end of my C-Star journey, then its certainly not the end of singing for me, i'm more motivated now than ever to get better, practice more, and share with everybody my love of music and song.
